Donald L. Murdock

July 26, 1927 - December 15, 2019

Donald L. Murdock, 92, of Manitou Beach, Michigan passed away surrounded by his loving family, peacefully early Sunday morning, December 15, 2019, at the Cartel Inns of Brighton, under the care of Hospice. He was born July 26, 1927, in Pittsford, Michigan, the son of the late Louis F. and Luella M. (Tom) Murdock. He married Marcia Jean McGehee on March 14, 1948, in Hudson, Michigan and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2007. 

Don was a graduate of Hudson High School Class of 1945, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was an owner and President of M & S Manufacturing and MS Sales in Hudson for over a span of 45 years. He was a member of Hudson First Congregational Church, Devils Lake Yacht Club, Hudson American Legion Hannan Colvin Post #180, past member of Lenawee Country Club and served on the Board of Directors for Hudson State Savings Bank. His favorite past times were lunches with the firemen, traveling to northern Michigan to spend time at his cabin and to snowmobile with his family. Don also enjoyed supporting many local endeavors through the Murdock Foundation he established.

Surviving Don is a daughter, Teri (Alan) Kasper of Glen Arbor, Michigan; a son, Bart (Wendy) Murdock of Milford, Michigan; four grandchildren, Liz (Joe) Connors, Becky Freedman, Rachel (Josh) Young and Bryan Murdock. He also had three great grandchildren; Evan and Ben Connors and Tenley Young. In addition, Don was blessed by having Debra Walters’ kind support for his family for over twenty years.

In addition to his parents and wife, Marcia Jean he was preceded in death by a son Donald L. (Mike) Murdock Jr.

A memorial service with military honors for Don will be at the Hudson First Congregational Church on Saturday, January, 18, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Rev. Thomas Burke officiating. A luncheon will be provided for family and friends immediately after the memorial service at the Hudson American Legion. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, January 17, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.
