William Kruse, Jr., 84, of Morenci, died early Friday morning, December 6, 2019, at Fulton Manor Nursing Home in Wauseon. He was born November 19, 1935, in Seneca Twp., MI, to William O. and Mamie A. (Powelke) Kruse. On January 25, 1959, he married Barbara Jane Roth in Seneca Twp., and she survives.
He served in the United States Army from May of 1956 until April of 1958. William then worked for Keller Supply and Service in Morenci as a John Deere mechanic for 33 years, retiring in 1993. In his younger years, he loved to play poker. Among his other hobbies was riding motorcycles and tinkering in his garage.
In addition to his wife, William is survived by sons, Jack (Peggy) Kruse of Wauseon and Dale (Dawne) Kruse of Richlands, North Carolina; 2 granddaughters - Taylor & Kailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Louise Kruse, Bessie Yenor, Emma Johnston, Ellen Wilson, and Marie Plummer and brothers, John Kruse and Carl “Shady” Kruse.
A funeral service for William will be held Wednesday, December 11, at 11:00 a.m., at Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci with Rev. William VanValkenberg, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., also at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in honor of William can be made to the Morenci American Legion or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
