Richard L. Baker

June 29, 1935 - December 1, 2019

Richard L. Baker, 84, of Morenci, died Sunday evening, December 1, 2019, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. He was born in Adrian on June 29, 1935, the son of the late Floyd and Helen (Tew) Baker. He married Sharon J. Jacobsen on June 30, 1957 and she preceded him in death on January 28 1984. He then married Beatrice E. Stites on October 6, 1984 and she preceded him in death on February 23, 1998; then he married Marlene R. Baker on October 15, 1998, and she preceded him in death on July 2, 2018.

A graduate of Morenci High School, he went on to attend college at Adrian College; and served in the United States Navy. Richard worked for the United States Postal Service as a truck driver for over 20 years. He was a member of the Morenci American Legion and the Morenci United Methodist Church. He was best known for telling a good joke and his family says he could just talk and talk.

Surviving Richard is son, Steven (Teresa) Baker of Everett, WA; daughters, Melanie Garrett of Sacramento, CA and Teri (Larry) Minaker of Lynnwood, WA; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Keith Baker of Sacramento, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first, second, and third wives, and his sister, Dawn (Earl) Nisbett of Florida.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., at Medina Cemetery, 12603 Medina Road, Medina Twp., MI, with Pastor Donna Galloway, officiating. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci.

Memorial contributions in Richard’s memory may be made to the Morenci United Methodist Church.
