Mary Lou Brighton-Lipps, 87, of Waldron, Michigan died early Monday morning, October 28, 2019, at Caring Dunn Right in Morenci while under the care of Careline Hospice. She was born in Toledo, OH on July 27, 1932, the daughter of the late Charles and Velma (LaPointe) Brighton. On May 19, 1956, she married the late Estel Lipps, in Angola, IN and he passed away on September 21, 1999.
Mary Lou was a graduate of Addison High School, class of 1950, and retired from Waldron industries in 1990 with over 20 years of service where she also served as union steward for many years. She was a member of the Waldron Wesleyan Church, the TOPS Club of Onsted, Prattville PTA and the Hudson Senior Center. She loved playing cards, especially if she was winning. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, coloring, playing Bingo and spending time with her family.
Surviving Mary Lou are daughters, Connie (Dale) Wheeler of Ava, MO, Maxine (Robert) Vanlerberg of Pittsford, MI, Beth (David) Grover of Lyons, OH, Diana (Charles Drake) Gucker of Hillsdale, MI, and Mavis (Scott) Verdon of Hudson, MI; sons, David (Barbara) Lipps of Jonesville, MI and Kenneth (Melissa) Lipps of Waldron, MI; grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Lipps, Janna (John) Witt, Jeff (Amy) Shaffer, Patrick (Teresa) Wheeler, Heather (Eric) Richardson, Benjamin (Francetta) Wheeler, Jeremy (Geneva) Vanlerberg, Brian (Jennifer) Vanlerberg, Aaron (Jen) Dunn, Matt (Carol) Dunn, Jennifer (Josh) Compau, Eva (Asa) Ennis, Andy (Lori) Newton, Dustin (Leslie) Newton, Kenny (Sarah) Lipps, Desiree (Mike) French, Janet Verdon, and Tommy Verdon; 38 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Michael Swartz; sister, Margaret Swindle of Old Hickory, TN; and brothers, William Brighton of Zephyrhills, FL and Jack Brighton of Hudson.
A celebration of life for Mary Lou will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at the Waldron Wesleyan Church with Pastor Darren Lemmon officiating. Burial will follow in Leonardson Cemetery in Pittsford. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson and from 10 a.m. until time of service on Thursday, at the church.
